On 26 June 2013 the Soft & Hardware Complex was set in trial operation for the Black and Azov Sea SAR technological processes management and control of Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Subcentre, Operational Control Centre of the Shore Radio Facility in Kerch, and an automated shore-based GMDSS A1 sea area radio station in Kerch.
The presented S&H Complex as a separate segment of the shore infrastructure consists of Shore Radio Facility of GMDSS A1 area around the Kerch Peninsula and Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Subcentre in Kerch.
The SRF of GMDSS A1 area around the Kerch Peninsula in its turn aggregates:
- SRF Operational Control Centre in Kerch, and
- the automated Base Station in Yurkino village.
The Base Station in Yurkino is to secure the designed radio coverage in the intense navigation areas both in the Kerch Strait and its approaches from the Black and Azov Sea sides.
Note: S&H Complex for the Black and Azov Sea SAR technological processes management and control has been created by State Enterprise “Marine Search and Rescue Service” to meet the requirements of international conventions Ukraine is a party to, with the purpose of increasing the existing level of shipping safety. In accordance with its main objective, the Complex is to provide for proper measures taken to improve the existing organisational and technical procurement and further stable development of the National Search and Rescue System in the SAR area of Ukraine.
