Rescue Team of SE MSRS Taking Offboard Injured Turkish Seafarer
An emergency situation occurred in the morning of 01 March 2013 aboard the bulk carrier Angel, Malta flag, Turkish crew, getting loaded at anchorage down to maximum draft in the neutral sea 20 nm off Ilyichevsk. In the course of mooring operations a deck rating Akcay Hamdi, born in 1968, got his right arm severely damaged.
The alert from m/v Angel and information on necessity of picking the wounded off board the vessel and delivering him ashore was received by vessels traffic regulation (VTR) post of Ilyichevsk port and transmitted to State Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (SMRCC), Odessa. Upon receipt of the alert, SMRCC launched towards the scene the SAR speedboat PRK-01 deployed in Ilyichevsk port. At 10.57 LT the boat left the port and headed to m/v Angel on full speed. At 11.45 the injured was transferred from the vessel aboard PRK-01 and at 12.46 landed on pier №11 of Ilyichevsk port where an ambulance car was already waiting for him.
