Manoeuvring assistant of "Sapfir"

.

On January 22nd the crew of the rescue vessel "Sapfir" of State Enterprise "Maritime Search and Rescue Service" conducted testing of the speed boat type «RIB – 650».
According to the explanatory legend, the crew provided assistance to the vessel in danger which sent a distress signal. Maritime rescuers conducted the search of the nominal victims on all-weather SAR speed boat "PRK-501" long way from the tug "Sapfir". Due to the high speed capacity of the boat, they have reached the place of conduction of the rescue operation very quickly and were able to fulfil all the necessary rescue procedures.

Taking into consideration the capabilities of the tug "Sapfir", which has the speed of 9-10 knots, to conduct search and rescue operations in the remote parts of the maritime regions of Ukraine, rescue speed boats of «RIB» type onboard, which speed is 40-45 knots, make it possible to involve it search and rescue operations and provide high efficiency.
The «RIB» type boats are highly important for the prompt response during search and rescue operations and enlarging the search area during their conduction.
The crew of the boat "PRK-501" fully accomplished the given tasks and emphasized high efficiency of the boat due to its high speed and manoeuvrability.
