On January 14, 2019, the second round of Ukrainian-Turkish consultations on maritime search and rescue cooperation was held in Istanbul.
During negotiations it was discussed a wide range of issues on further strengthening of the bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey in the search and rescue area.
The Ukrainian delegation, in particular, representatives of the State Enterprise "Marine Search and Rescue Service" took an active part in the discussion of the mentioned issues.
Thus, the parties agreed to conclude an intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation in respect of Search and Rescue in the Black Sea. In this context, the experts of two countries agreed to complete drafting of this agreement till the end of February this year.
The parties identified also further directions for improving cooperation concerning the mutual exchange of information from the stations of automatic identification systems of Ukraine and Turkey on a parity basis. As a result, it was reached an agreement on the signing of a relevant Agreement on this issue by October, 2019.
More globally, representatives of two countries discussed relevant issues of bilateral cooperation on the international level, in particular within IMO, and on the regional level.
