On November 27th 2018 15th Mediterranean AIS Expert Working Group meeting took place in Venice, Italy within the framework of the Project "Maritime Safety, Security and Environmental Protection in the Black and Caspian Sea Regions".
Two representatives of State Enterprise "Marine Search and Rescue Service" of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine took part in the meeting on behalf of Ukraine.
The main aim of the meeting was overlook of the activity and monitoring in MAREΣ network. The participants had an opportunity to learn the AIS status of MAREΣ member countries, as well as the countries, which joined MAREΣ server and observer states.
The participants received information regarding the status of «SAFEMED» and « Maritime Safety, Security and Environmental Protection in the Black and Caspian Sea Regions » projects, as well as launching the 2nd phase of the pilot project on T-AIS sharing T-AIS data between individual MAREΣ Member, Participant States and Observer States.
The participation of Ukrainian delegation in the meeting gave the possibility to learn new principles of functioning and possibilities of Mediterranean regional AIS server within the framework of technical support project « Maritime Safety, Security and Environmental Protection in the Black and Caspian Sea Regions », beneficiary country of which is Ukraine.
According to the Order of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine № 221, dd 25.04.2012 with the amendments according to the order № 284, dd 18.08.2017, State Enterprise "Marine Search and Rescue Service" is responsible for the organization of functioning and development of the surface conditions monitoring using an Automated System in the Black and Azov Seas in the Area of Responsibility of Ukraine, as well as its coordination with the subjects of National SAR system in search and rescue region of Ukraine and European Maritime Safety Agency, SAR and other services of Black sea countries, responsible for reception and transmission of the information, connected with provision of navigation safety.
Besides, in the Service Level Agreement between European Maritime Safety Agency and Italian Coast Guard and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, a competent authority denoted SE "Marine Search and Rescue Service" as beneficiary and a member of the project, which is implemented by ЕМSA.
