On the 21st of October at 10:15 a duty officer of the State Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centre of the State Enterprise "Marine Search and Rescue Service" of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine received information from the tug "Hepard" that a crew of the yacht "Kateryna" needs assistance.
The vessel is located 16 nautical miles from a shore on outer harbor of the Odesa port. The yacht is drifting to south because of broken mast and damaged screw and steering set. 9 people are on board.
The duty officer announced a phase of distress. It was decided to prepare and involve search and rescue vessels of the SE "Marine Search and Rescue Service".
Taking into consideration weather conditions it was decided to involve "PRK-01" for search and rescue of people.
At 11:40 "PRK-01" arrived on scene and at 12:00 accompanied the yacht to the Odesa port. At 15:20 "PRK-01" successfully finished accompanying and the yacht "Kateryna" was safely moored near the 18th harbor of the Odesa Sea Trade Port. There is no threat to human life.
