On November 23 within the conduction of pre-audit of Ukraine the auditors from International Maritime Organization visited State Enterprise "Marine Search and Rescue Service" of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
During the pre-audit, the fulfillment of international obligations in terms of conduction of search and rescue operations by Ukraine according to International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea 1974 (SOLAS-74), International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue 1979 (SAR-79), and other responsibilities of the coastal state were checked.
The aim of the event was to see the dynamics of preparation of Ukraine to the oncoming audit, which is to pass in the middle of 2018.
Together with the administration of SE "MSRS", the Head of the Department for the Reforming and operation of Marine and River Transport of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Oleksandr Basuk, was also present at the meeting. He was defined as the focal point of the audit conduction from Ukrainian side.
The meeting started with the report of the secretary of State coordination committee Volodymyr Rabotnov. He presented the current affairs of the enterprise, the organization ow work in the divisions and cooperation between governmental bodies, authorities, enterprises and organizations. He also outlined the main points about functioning of the State coordination committee on maritime search and rescue and the National system of maritime search and rescue.
Making conclusions about the meeting, the director of SE "MSRS" Viktor Sudarev emphasized, that the sustainable development is an important condition of providing safety and security to human's life at sea, and expressed assurance, that in the nearest future the aeronautical division will be created within the enterprise, for fast and efficient rescue of the suffered in the SAR region of Ukraine.
The conduction of such pre-audit will be useful for the appropriate preparation to the oncoming compulsory audit of Ukraine by the International Maritime Organisation, which will take place from June 23 to July 2 2018.
