.

On 10 November 2016 a mission of experts from the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) was finished in Odesa. The main purpose of that mission had been preparation of a new technical assistance project by the EU. This new project will embrace the Black and Caspian Seas coastal countries and become a logical extension of the project ‘TRACECA: Maritime Security and Safety II’ completed on 31 July this year.

The EMSA experts had an opportunity to meet employees of state authorities and state enterprises of Ukraine's marine sector, among which the representatives of the SE ‘Marine Search and Rescue Service’ was scheduled. The experts of SE MSRS informed on the situation in the maritime SAR field at the moment, advised upon the basic aspects of the Service’s activities, and discussed the prospects of cooperation between SE MSRS and the new technical assistance project.

On top of it, the mission experts got familiarized with the everyday work of State Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (SMRCC).

As a result of the meeting, the employees of EMSA expressed their deep hope on further fruitful collaboration with SE MSRS in particular and Ukraine on the whole.
